Well, I went to the eden project the other day. Absolutely amazed and very pleased that such a moral, intelligent effort has been so successful. People are clever! And coorporates consistently underate the publics intelligence. I was completely ignorant of what the team there were all about until I went there and read the Guide for the place. I was in instant admiration of everyone who worked there, especially the CEO (Tim), the 3 other founders and the two outstanding engineers who gave over one and a half years of there lives (without pay!) to design the place. Respect.
It brought me great pleasure that such a grand feat had been accomplished by the British people. The worlds largest greenhouse is situated there. It is beautiful. And its not all just nature. The founders are hungry intellects! They promote everything, culture, creativity, art, math science! I hold much respect for such people. Its something I try to do myself! I create music, go to theatre and write poetry. I also read inspirational works of physics and study mathematics for pleasure, not just my degree. Im so passionate about maths I refuse to miss a heartbeat. Which is why im now reading books for the other modules which I did not take.
I feel everyone should have such intellectual stimulation! I feel its one of those things people just need in order to feel fulfilled and happy (alongside sex, violence (in sports preferably!) expression (dance, singing etc), exercise).
Woaa, im going off on one. But yeah, this century is going to be very tough. In 50 years, 4 billion more humans will share this Earth with us. The oil will be effectively gone. 3rd world countries will become more urbanised. The Eden project is the best effort Ive seen to make a change, and it starts with educating people. We must start preparing today, otherwise a lot of people are going to starve and I fear more people will go to war over scarce resources. (assuming no technology advance). Let us hope we act as a Global community.
Good night
